Incorporated in 1779 as a farming community, Southington gets its name because it was once known as “South Farmington.” (Before that, the area was known as Panthorne.) While Southington’s name has changed over the years, it has maintained its nickname, “The Apple Valley,” thanks to the many apple orchards that continue to dot its landscape.
No description of Southington is complete without mentioning that it is the home of the world-famous Fancy Bagels shop, and Southington also has many historic landmarks, including one of the oldest golf courses in Connecticut, one of the oldest drive-in theaters in the country, and a charming historic downtown area. Today, families flock to Southington for its well-maintained public parks, excellent schools, low crime rate, and delicious bagels.
Over the last five years, Southington has seen a decrease in violent crime and a rise in property crime. The violent crime rate in Southington in 2020 was 34.2, significantly lower than the U.S. average of 228.3. The property crime rate in the same year was slightly higher than the national average, with a rate of 174.3 compared to the U.S. average of 169.6. Despite the rise in property crime, the overall crime rates in Southington make it a relatively safe place to live compared to other cities in Connecticut and the U.S.
After a crime or security incident—when what you need is clear, detailed footage of events—traditional analog cameras will almost always let you down.
That’s why, at Mammoth Security, we only furnish HD (High Definition) digital cameras. With high-definition footage, our customers have the evidence they need to recognize suspects, recover property, and make our community safer for everyone.
By installing devices that operate on open-source software, our team is able to integrate security systems and products from different manufacturers.
Integrated security systems offer superior reliability when compared to isolated systems because they share and cross-check data between devices. What’s more, security system integration empowers users by placing all integrated management and oversight tools on a single, easy-to-use interface.
There’s no need to be on-site or in a control room to monitor security systems installed by the Mammoth Security team. We use IP (Internet Protocol) products so that you can check your alarm status, review access control logs, and even view live streams and recorded video on your browser or mobile device from anywhere with an Internet connection.
Our remote viewing and management tools also streamline emergency responses. With access to relevant surveillance footage during incidents, you can provide eyewitness reports to dispatchers and receive priority responses.
