The Torrington, CT Police Department partnered with Mammoth Security Inc. to upgrade their outdated surveillance to an Avigilon Unity on-premise camera system. Avigilon’s high-resolution IP cameras, paired with reliable recording and management software, provided the department with a future-proof security backbone. To keep costs down, Mammoth utilized Avigilon-compatible digital converters that allowed existing analog wiring to support IP camera transmission. This eliminated the need for extensive new cabling while delivering the clarity, speed, and reliability of modern Avigilon technology.
In a later phase, we installed Avigilon anti-ligature cameras inside jail cells. These corner-mount, purpose-built cameras are designed to withstand tampering while minimizing self-harm risks, ensuring both inmate and officer safety. Combined with Avigilon’s intuitive management interface, the system enables officers to monitor live activity, quickly review incidents, and maintain a complete video record across all critical areas of the department.
The results were immediate: on the same day the Avigilon system went live, footage from the new cameras helped identify a suspect who damaged a vehicle in the employee parking lot.
